Encounter
A meeting where the words would not come.
When you have a heart-stirring feeling inside you, I bet you cannot speak a word. I understood that after this encounter.
On the SK University campus I met a girl. I was there to present a paper. She was a second-year student from some college, Mogul or something of that sort.
After my presentation I kept wandering near her, trying to look as if I were about to say something. She was a cool-looking girl, and I was desperate to do something. Then it struck me in the chest, and I could not speak. What on earth stopped me? I had run out of words. For the first time, I felt dumb.
After two or three attempts I managed a "hi." My heart was jumping. I had to hold it down. Her name was Ashwini. Please do not laugh. I was in a situation where words were more precious than gold. I could see her giggling, and I was on the moon. The whole scene was dramatic. I could almost hear words she had not spoken. That may be a little exaggerated, but the joy was real.
To my luck, the presentation had gone well, and it gave her something to talk about. The discussion was foolish, and the trance of pleasure between us was memorable. I wanted to make the most of the chance, so I looked for a spot event. We found a quiz and registered as one team. I was in cloud nine, walking around with her. We talked for nearly an hour.
Fate had other ideas, and they did not favour me. The spot events were cancelled, and the feast was rushed through. All I could do was curse the organiser. I was disappointed. It was a disastrous ending to a lovely encounter.
I still kept a ten-rupee note with me, a short, sweet memory of her.
Ashwini, I miss you.
P.S. This encounter had more twists than I expected. I got her number from a trusted friend, and I meant to write the next part soon.
